I have rehearsed alongside more instruments to the piece
Adele “someone like you” in preparation for a performance in January. I have
already played this song at the end of year show last year alongside vocals. I
wanted to challenge myself more and practice with other instruments so during
this rehearsal I played with 3 other people. This was with new vocalist and 2
guitarists both playing acoustic guitars alongside my playing.
Things that went well…
We found that Both Kane and Maddie voices went really well
together so we started to rehearse with both singing together. Also, both Molly
and Kane played guitar this gives more impact to the song with 2 guitarists.
Things to improve on…
When rehearsing the pre-chorus this was particularly
difficult to get correct as the vocals came in too early. I feel there needs to
be a break given from when I start playing with practice this will be
corrected. I have decided to extend the pre-chorus to lengthen it and gives the
singer more time. I feel after the break over summer my hand has weakened and
need to keep up practice to strengthen at home. Practice is key to gain hand
muscle strength, I have thought that a base would sound good however similar
sounds can be made with the acoustic guitar.
Further progress…
I attempted to practice 4 chords for the backing of the
Beetles I felt that listening to the song before help me to practice the timing
correctly. I rehearsed this on my own and am going to practice this soon with
the others.
On another session I wanted to practice my keys and both me
and Jade tried to learn UP “Married life” This was easy keys and simple to
learn. The intention was to learn basic keys so we could practice together in
the future. I am currently doing drumming lessons and hope to gain the
confidence to play this in the show alongside others.
